On Thursday Kerala declared it had found 22040 fresh Covid cases with 117 deaths, taking the taking the infection toll to over 33 lakh cases. At the moment there are 4,81,157 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. From these, 4,51,799 are in quarantine and 29,358 in medical care centres.

The state is considering setting-up micro-containment zones to combat the spread of the deadly virus. This is likely to be in areas where cases are clustered. Contact tracing will also be undertaken in various districts.
