Manipal Hospitals Eyes Acquisitions

Manipal Hospitals is accelerating its growth strategy by exploring acquisitions across key Indian markets while expanding its investments in artificial intelligence (AI), digital healthcare and hospital infrastructure.

The healthcare group is evaluating acquisition opportunities in Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Telangana and Chhattisgarh, while also considering further expansion in Karnataka, Maharashtra, Goa and Eastern India. The strategy aims to strengthen Manipal Hospitals’ presence in high-growth healthcare markets and improve access to advanced medical services

Expanding Through Acquisitions and New Hospitals

Manipal Hospitals has increasingly relied on acquisitions to expand its national footprint. Recent transactions involving Sahyadri Hospitals in Maharashtra and Medica Synergie in Eastern India have helped strengthen its regional presence.

As of March 31, 2026, the group operated 49 hospitals with more than 13,000 licensed beds across 14 states and Union Territories. It is also targeting approximately 2,426 additional beds by 2030 through greenfield and brownfield projects.

One of its major upcoming projects is a greenfield hospital in Juhu, Mumbai, supported by an investment of around ₹495 crore.

AI Driving the Next Phase of Healthcare

Alongside physical expansion, Manipal Hospitals is developing a “physical plus digital” healthcare model. AI and connected technologies are being introduced to improve clinical workflows, patient monitoring and administrative efficiency.

An AI-enabled nursing handover system has already been deployed across 24 hospitals. The group is also implementing wireless patient-monitoring solutions and AI-powered chat and voice assistants for patient enquiries, triage and appointment management.

The company is further working on a unified Hospital Information System to integrate clinical, diagnostic and administrative workflows, enabling healthcare teams to access information more efficiently.

Manipal Hospitals’ combination of strategic acquisitions, new hospital capacity and AI-led transformation reflects a broader shift in India’s healthcare sector. By integrating technology with its expanding hospital network, the group aims to improve efficiency, strengthen patient services and build a more connected healthcare ecosystem across the country.
