Gurugram, 12th October 2026: In a medical emergency, the first few minutes are often critical, and a timely response can make a meaningful difference to outcomes. With this in mind, Medanta – The Medicity, ranked India’s best hospital by Newsweek in 2026, launched a community-wide emergency response initiative called ‘Har Ghar, Har Society Surakshit’ that is aimed at equipping people with essential first-aid skills and preparedness where they live, work and go about their daily lives.

Guided by the vision of “Building a Circle of Safety for Your Community”, the programme will train residents, security personnel, housekeeping teams and facility staff in practical first-response skills, and equip communities with first-aid infrastructure, enabling more effective action before professional medical help arrives. Formally inaugurated at The Center Court, Sector 88A, Gurugram on 11th October 2026, the programme embodies the Medanta ethos of ‘Har Ek Jaan Anmol’, meaning ‘Every Life Is Invaluable’. It offers first‑aid training and on‑site First Aid Zones to make homes and common areas safer during medical emergencies. The model is designed to be extended to multiple residential societies across the country.

Mr. Pankaj Sahni, Group CEO & Director, Medanta said, “Emergency preparedness is most effective when it becomes part of everyday life. Through ‘Har Ghar, Har Society Surakshit’, we are working hand in hand with communities, RWAs and facility teams to build a scalable model of training, infrastructure and mock drills. We want every participating society to function as a first response ready micro ecosystem, where prevention and timely action become shared responsibilities.”

The programme will also establish Emergency First Aid Hubs stocked with first-aid supplies, supported by information posters in high-risk areas such as swimming pools, gyms and play areas. A key component is the creation of ‘Suraksha Champions’ — security, housekeeping and facility staff trained as first responders in basic life support, CPR, drowning, gym-related injuries, fire management, and animal bites and stings.

During the launch, health experts from Medanta took residents and community staff through ‘The Suraksha Zone’, an interactive activation featuring hands-on CPR training, first aid for animal bites and stings, drowning rescue protocols, fire extinguisher demonstrations and dehydration-management sessions. Participating families received Medanta Safe Home Guidelines, Medanta Emergency Pocket Booklets and Medanta First-Aid Kits.

Dr. Sushila Kataria, Vice Chairperson, Internal Medicine at Medanta Gurugram said, “Healthcare should not begin only when a patient reaches the hospital. In emergencies like cardiac arrest, drowning or severe bleeding, the first few minutes decide outcomes. With ‘Har Ghar, Har Society Surakshit’, we are taking emergency preparedness out of the hospital and into homes and societies, so that residents and staff can act confidently in those critical minutes before an ambulance arrives. Our goal is to make every participating society in a first-response-ready community.”

To sustain preparedness, the initiative includes weekly WhatsApp micro-reminders, monthly refresher training and quarterly drills, along with recognition of ‘Society Heroes’. At Medanta, caring for people goes beyond treating them in hospital. It also means taking responsibility for the health, safety and well-being of the community around us.

Residential societies and RWAs can contact Medanta’s community health team at 9650507316 for an assessment and onboarding.
