A pioneer in the field of Neurosurgery, Dr. V.P. Singh is credited with establishing the Gamma Knife Unit and the Epilepsy Surgery Programme at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). His specialization spans all aspects of Neurosurgery with special focus on Brain Tumour Surgery, Cerebrovascular Surgery, and Pediatric Neurosurgery. A keen academician and researcher, Dr. Singh completed his MBBS & M.Ch. (Neurosurgery) from AIIMS. This was followed by extensive training experience in the field of cerebrovascular surgery and radio surgery in the United Kingdom. He returned to AIIMS and served for several years before moving to a leading private healthcare provider.
Dr. A. K. Banerji has played a key role in establishing Microneurosurgery and standardising Neurosurgical training and evaluation in India. He helped in establishing the Neurosurgery department and subsequently set up a dedicated Neurosciences centre at AIIMS. Hehas significantly contributed to the systematic development of Aneurysm Surgery, Peripheral Nerve Surgery, Transphenoidal Surgery and Surgery for Pineal Region Tumors. Dr. Banerji completed his MBBS and MS (Surgery) from the King George Medical College, Lucknow, followed by an MS(Neurosurgery) degree from the Christian Medical College, Vellore.
