The world-famous cancer centre, the oldest in the world – Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre – is launching MSKCC India so that local patients can benefit from the institution’s expertise with the dreaded disease. Famous oncologists of the centre can now treat cancer patients in India, besides the research, clinical trials and education that are carried out here. This means that oncologists affiliated to MSKCC will now review medical papers and test results to provide an exhaustive medical opinion to patients seeking treatment through virtual means, besides consulting with these patients’ local doctors and advising them. In certain cases patients may be advice to travel to New York to receive treatment from the MSKCC centre there.
Interestingly MSKCC, the cancer centre of global repute, has partnered with an Indian telemedicine venture called iCliniq to make its expertise available to Indian patients.
