The Department of Community Medicine at Noida International Institute of Medical Sciences (NIIMS), in collaboration with the IAPSM-UP UK Chapter, hosted an engaging workshop focused on the integration of Virtual Reality (VR) in competency-based medical education. This innovative session provided an in-depth exploration of how VR technology is transforming medical training, allowing students and professionals to gain hands-on experience in a risk-free environment.

Virtual Reality is swiftly reshaping the medical education landscape by offering immersive, interactive simulations that enable learners to practice procedures, develop critical thinking, and refine decision-making skills. The workshop demonstrated VR’s potential to bridge theoretical knowledge and practical application, equipping participants with a dynamic platform that adapts to diverse learning needs.

The event featured the guidance of esteemed committee members, including Dr. Devesh Kumar Singh, Hon’ble Chairman of NIIMS, serving as the Chief Patron, and Dr. S.N. Gupta, Director of NIIMS, as Patron. The organizing committee, led by Dr. Ranjana Singh, Head of Community Medicine,  Dr (Brig) Bhuwnesh Chaudhury. the host

of the eventalong with Dr. Vineet Rastogi as Organizing Secretary, ensured the workshop’s smooth execution and impactful delivery.

The workshop facilitators included Dr. Neeraj Raj, Managing Director of Immertive Technology, and Mr. Abhimanyu More, who coordinated the immersive sessions. Together, they offered valuable insights into the technical and practical aspects of VR in medical training, showcasing VR’s potential to provide realistic, adaptable training scenarios without the need for physical resources or patient involvement.

This event was made possible by the benevolent patronage of our Hon’ble Chairman, Dr. Devesh Kumar Singh, with further inspiration and support from the esteemed Director, Dr. S.N. Gupta; respected Dean, Dr. Ashutosh Niranjan; and Medical Superintendent, Dr. (Maj Gen) C.S. Ahluwalia. A special thanks to the Team Immertive—Dr. Neeraj Raj and Mr. Abhimanyu K. More—for their insights on VR applications in medical training, and for the dedicated participants for their meaningful engagement.
