Orthotrends 2018, India’s biggest conference on orthopedics, to be held in Chandigarhon Oct 6-7

  The fifth edition of the annual international orthopedics conclave, called Orthotrends 2018, will be held in Chandigarh on October 6 and 7. The chosen theme of the two-day event, considered the largest annual gathering of orthopedic community in India, is “Exploring new horizons in arthroplasty.”

Hundreds of orthopedic surgeons from India and abroad have confirmed participation at Orthotrends2018 which is designed, as the name suggests,to allow participants to catch up with the latest trends in the field of orthopedics and provide a strong platform for academia-industry interaction.

Key highlights this year include ten live surgeries, case-based panel discussions, free papers and hands-on workshops for experiential learning. There will be special discussions on complex hip surgeries.More than 30 eminent orthopedic surgeonsincluding two international faculties will speak at various sessions.A trade exhibition is being organized on the sidelines of the mega event.The live surgeries, including complex total knee replacement (TKR) and total hip replacement (THR) will be broadcast live from the Shalby Hospital in Mohali.

Said Dr. Vikram I Shah,Chairman & Managing Director of Shalby Hospitals, who is the Chief Patron of Orthotrendssince its inception in 2014: “Over the years, Orthotrends has grown to become India’s premier platform for the orthopedic community, from seasoned orthopedicsto budding professionals, to acquire new knowledge and skillsets and boost their learning curve. Its previous editions held at Ahmedabad, Indore and Jaipur were a great success. Unlike other ortho meets which just focus on training and published literature, Orthotrends is conceptualized to provide a much wider

platform to learn from the stalwarts of the specialty from India and abroad. It will provide unprecedented avenues for experiential learning, interactions and live surgeries in an ambience that will also foster good networking among orthopedic specialists.”

Dr Mandeep S Dhillon, Professor & Head, Dept. of Orthopaedic Surgery PGIMER, Chandigarh is also a patron of Orthotrends 2018, along with Dr. Vikram I. Shah.

The sessions at Orthotrends 2018 will focus on current concepts like the evolving trends in the management of OA, bariatric surgery, replacement surgery, etc.; challenging cases in total knee replacement (TKR) and total hip replacement (THR) and avoiding adverse outcomes; prosthetic joint infections; painful TKR; Revision TKR and THR; Partial Knee Replacement, and so on.

The two international faculties who will share their insights include Dr. Robert Harvey, Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon, Spire Murrayfield Hospital, Wirral, UK, and Dr. HeikoGraichen, Medical Director, Asklepios Orthopedic Clinic, Lindenlohe, Germany.

Orthotrends isorganizedevery year in various cities across India with Dr. Vikram I. Shahof Shalby Hospitals as the chief patron. The 5th edition of the event this year is being supported by the Orthopaedic Education & Research Society, Mohali.
