Strengthening its fight against COVID India administers 71,61,760 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours. This takes the cumulative figure of vaccine doses administered to 68.46 crore (68,46,69,521). Out of the total doses administered in the last 24 hours, the maximum of over 30 crore doses have gone to the 18-44 age group followed by people from the 45-59 age group. Central government States had provided over 66.89 crore vaccine doses and UTs through direct procurement.

After the total administration of vaccines till now, an unutilised 4.37 Crore doses is still available with the states and UTs. It is also 1.56 Crore doses now under pipelines. A total of 3,21,38,092 patients have beaten the virus and recovered since the beginning of the pandemic out of which 38,091 patients recovered in the last 24 hours. India’s recovery rate now stands at 97.42 percent.

India reported less than 50,000 cases for 70 consecutive days; the number however still remains high. India reported 42,766 fresh cases in the last 24 hours. This addition takes the active caseload to 4,10,048 which constitutes 1.24 percent of the total positive cases reported in the country. The testing capacity has been ramped up extensively which has helped in identifying a COVID-19 case before the person affected can infect others. 17,47,476 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours taking the total number of tests conducted so far to over 53 Cr.

India has managed to keep the positivity rate under three percent for a while now. The daily positivity rate that has been below five percent for 90 consecutive days has slightly dropped from the previous day to 2.45 percent.

The weekly positivity rate which has come down from the positivity rate recorded during the second wave, stands at 2.66 percent and has remained below 3 percent for the last 72 days.
