Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the newly developed Namo Hospital in Daman, underscoring the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and accelerating the adoption of digital health services across India.
During the inauguration, the Prime Minister highlighted several flagship healthcare initiatives, including Ayushman Arogya Mandirs and the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), describing them as transformative steps aimed at bringing quality healthcare services closer to citizens and improving accessibility across urban and rural areas.
The newly inaugurated Namo Hospital is expected to enhance healthcare delivery in the Union Territory by providing advanced medical services, improved patient care facilities, and greater access to specialized treatment.
The project forms part of the government’s broader strategy to modernize healthcare infrastructure while integrating technology driven healthcare solutions.
Speaking on India’s healthcare transformation, Modi emphasized the role of digital health in improving service delivery, reducing paperwork, and enabling seamless access to medical records. Through the ABDM, citizens can create a unique digital health identity, allowing healthcare providers to securely access and share medical information with patient consent.
According to official figures, the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission has facilitated the creation of more than 80 crore ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) numbers, while connecting healthcare facilities, healthcare professionals, and digital health applications to a unified national ecosystem.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the expansion of Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, formerly known as Health and Wellness Centres. More than 1.8 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are operational across the country, serving as the first point of contact for primary healthcare services and preventive care.
Healthcare experts note that India’s ongoing investments in digital health infrastructure are helping improve healthcare accessibility, continuity of care, and patient outcomes. Digital health platforms have become increasingly important in enabling telemedicine, electronic health records, online consultations, and efficient healthcare management.
The inauguration of Namo Hospital reflects the government’s continued focus on strengthening healthcare capacity while leveraging technology to improve patient experiences. Industry observers believe such investments are critical as India’s healthcare needs continue to grow alongside population expansion and rising demand for specialized medical services.
With enhanced infrastructure, digital integration, and expanding primary healthcare networks, the government aims to build a more accessible, efficient, and patient centric healthcare system capable of serving millions of citizens across the country.
