Under the banner of Manipal Vriddara Maitri, Manipal Hospital Malleshwaram, in association with The Senior Central, hosted “Rangmanch” – an evening filled with cultural extravaganza. The event celebrated the spirit of life in the golden years, inviting seniors to enjoy themselves without focusing on their pains or health issues. It was a platform for them to showcase their talents and enjoy a worry-free evening.
In today’s world, elderly care is increasingly becoming a pressing issue, with many seniors finding themselves isolated or neglected. That is due to the younger generation being highly successful and focused in their studies and career – often moving and settling abroad – leaving many parents behind. Recognizing this, the Manipal Vriddara Maitri – a senior care program was launched, aiming to extend a caring hand to ensure their physical, mental, and social well-being.
The event brought together about 200 senior citizens from across the neighbourhood who participated in activities such as music and dance performances and a fashion show. The event was graced by Dhanya Ramkumar – an Indian actress and model and the granddaughter of Dr. Rajkumar. Also in presence were Dr. Niranjan Rai, Hospital Director, Manipal Hospital Malleshwaram, and Dr. Bhavana Badarinarayan, Regional Head – Marketing, Manipal Hospitals.
Speaking about the initiative, Dr. Niranjan Rai stated, “With Manipal Vriddara Maitri, we at Manipal Hospital Malleshwaram aim to assure that we can be an extended arm, an extended family member to senior citizens, providing a supportive and convenient environment for senior citizens. This cultural event was a joyful evening where they showcased their talents, setting aside their health problems and other concerns.”
Hailing from the family of Dr. Rajkumar, Dhanya Ramkumar expressed her gratitude and noted, “I am overwhelmed to be a part of this event. Your perseverance and strong will at this age are truly commendable. My heart feels warm today as I can see reflections of my grandparents in all of you. The beautiful dances and energetic walks all remind me of my grandparents. Thank you for inviting me to this special evening.”
As part of the Senior Care Program, Manipal Hospital Malleshwaram has established a Senior Neighborhood Desk, offering end-to-end hand-holding support to seniors without added stress or inconvenience. A dedicated helpline is in place for scheduling appointments, accompanied by a unique identity card that streamlines their access to dedicated executive support throughout outpatient treatments, post-discharge care, homecare services, as well as pick-up and drop-off services available upon request.
As Manipal Hospital Malleshwaram continues to prioritize the well-being of senior care, Manipal Vriddara Maitri ensures that their healthcare needs are met with compassion and efficiency.
