Stryker, a global leader in medical technologies participated at the Criticare National Conference (2024), held from March 1st to 3rd at the ITC Royal Bengal in Kolkata, India. During the event, Stryker launched and showcased two new products– “LIFEPAK CR2 automated external defibrillator (AED) for cardiac care” and “Evacuation Chair” for emergency patient evacuation.

LIFEPAK CR2: Advancing Cardiac Arrest Care

The LIFEPAK CR2 is a revolutionary defibrillator designed to empower rescuers in providing high-quality CPR and delivering instant shock during sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) emergencies.[1],2 This innovative device incorporates QUIK-STEP electrodes which peel directly off the base for faster placement on patient chest and a Shock Advisory System which is an ECG analysis system that advises whether a shock is appropriate. The CPR coaching technology provides instructions for adult and pediatric CPR, including feedback when no CPR is detected, rate and depth guidance, a metronome, and instructions on hand placement for CPR.2,3,4

LIFEPAK CR2 also detects whether chest compressions are being performed and adjusts the voice prompts, if needed, to help the responder resume CPR and provide life-saving care.

Key features and benefits of the LIFEPAK CR2 include:

  • QUIK-STEP™ electrodes for both adult and paediatric patients
  • ClearVoice™ technology – Detects background noise, adjusts tones and voice prompts to ensure they can be heard clearly in noisy environments
  • CPR coaching: Provides real-time feedback on the rate, depth, and hand placement of chest compressions
  • Powerful escalating energy: Delivers shocks up to 360 Joules for effective defibrillation.

Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) can happen to anyone—anywhere. Immediate treatment is vital. A victim’s chance of survival dramatically decreases every minute without treatment.1

Evacuation Chair: Enhancing Patient Safety During Emergencies

Stryker Medical also showcased its new evacuation chair, designed to facilitate the safe and efficient evacuation of patients with limited mobility during emergencies. This chair features several unique functionalities:

  • Stair-TREAD system: Allows a single operator to safely evacuate patients weighing up to 200 pounds (90 kg) downstairs, with the descent speed adjusting automatically based on the patient’s weight.
  • Extendable foot end lift handles: Enable two operators to work together to lift patients over obstacles or upstairs.
  • Secure restraints: Ensure patient safety during transport.

Additionally, the chair’s maneuverability allows for easy navigation in tight spaces, and its compact storage capability maximizes space efficiency when not in use.
