Sukoon Health Sets New Standards in Mental Health

In a significant stride towards transforming mental health care in India, Sukoon Health, which opened India’s first NABH inpatient psychiatry hospital in Delhi, today announced the launch of its first state-of-the-art mental health facility in Bengaluru. The launch of the Bengaluru hospital is its fourth hospital unit and reinforces its mission to enhance mental health and de-addiction care across India.

The inauguration of the facility today was graced by the presence of Shri Dinesh Gundu Rao, Hon’ble Minister, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Govt of Karnataka, who led the ribbon-cutting ceremony. His participation highlights the government’s support to enhancing the mental health infrastructure and recognizes Sukoon Health’s role in pioneering psychiatry care services  in the region.

Leading Bengaluru Psychiatrist, Dr. Satish Ramaiah, serves as the Executive Director of Psychiatric Services and the Centre Head. Dr. Ramaiah has contributed significantly to the field through his research in addiction, learning disabilities, and sleep disorders, with his findings published in esteemed medical journals.

“At Sukoon Health, we emphasize a holistic care plan aimed at enhancing not only the recovery but also the overall well-being of our patients. Concentrating on functional recovery, social engagement, and the prevention of future relapses, we seek to improve the quality of life for the individual. We achieve this by empowering our patients with personalized care and teamwork, actively involving their families and loved ones in the recovery process. This not only makes the healing journey more personal but also strengthens support networks for better health outcomes”, said Dr. Satish Ramaiah, Center Head for Sukoon Health, Bengaluru.

According to a detailed study by The Lancet on “The Global Burden of Disease Study 1990-2017,” Karnataka reports a prevalence of 3,500 cases per 100,000 population across various mental health conditions  (without making a distinction for severity), highlighting the urgent need for enhanced mental health care infrastructure.

Amplifying their mission is a recent survey conducted by Sukoon Health, which illuminates the evolving perceptions and growing awareness of mental health care in India. With 70% of respondents acknowledging the criticality of diagnosing and treating mental health conditions, a societal shift is evident. This change is further evidenced by the 29% of participants who recognize the necessity of proper diagnosis and treatment for mental health conditions and the 33% who actively seek professional help for severe mental health issues. Such insights underscore a broader understanding of mental health care, reinforcing the need for high-quality mental health services like those offered by Sukoon Health’s pioneering facility in Bengaluru.

Located on New Bel Road in North Bengaluru, Sukoon’s facility offers both inpatient and outpatient treatments, ensuring that individuals receive holistic care tailored to their specific needs. With a team of seasoned psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, and counselors, Sukoon embodies a comprehensive approach to mental health care, addressing every aspect of an individual’s well-being with expertise and empathy.

“As we inaugurate the new Sukoon Mental Healthcare facility in Bengaluru, we stand at the forefront of bridging a critical gap in our nation’s healthcare landscape. With a steadfast commitment to holistic, personalised care and leveraging state-of-the-art technology, we aim to not only address immediate needs but also foster long-term well-being.” said Dr. Nachiket Mor, Independent Director, Sukoon Health.

Sukoon Health has 4 facilities in New Delhi, Gurugram, Chattarpur and now, Bengaluru. To date, Sukoon Health has treated 75,000+ people.
