Senior doctors share insights with young medical professionals

Day-long ECG workshop at Aster Prime Hospital

Heart attacks are becoming increasingly common among both men and women, even at a young age, leading to tragic fatalities. However, a simple Electrocardiogram (ECG), when analyzed by a qualified doctor, can help detect multiple heart conditions at an early stage. Unfortunately, many doctors, along with the general public, lack awareness about the importance of ECG interpretation.

To bridge this gap, Aster Prime Hospital organized a one-day workshop titled “Basic and Beyond ECG” for about 160 young doctors, focusing on ECG analysis and interpretation. The workshop was coordinated by Dr. A. Sai Ravishankar, Senior Consultant Cardiologist and Head of Cardiology at Aster Prime Hospital. It saw participation from esteemed cardiologists, including:

Dr. C. Raghu, Senior Interventional Cardiologist, Yashoda Hospital

Dr. B. Hygriv Rao, Cardiologist & Electrophysiologist, KIMS Hospital

Dr. Mukherjee, Consultant Cardiologist, Super Specialty Hospital

Dr. A Guru Prakash, Interventional Cardiologist, Yashoda Hospital

Dr. Y. Shiva Kumar, Consultant Cardiologist, Mahavir Hospital

Dr. MVN Suresh, Head of Emergency Medicine, Aster Prime Hospital

During the event, senior doctors emphasized that a correctly interpreted ECG can reveal crucial heart conditions such as electrolyte imbalances, sudden increases in heart rate, and structural changes in the heart. Various case studies were presented, demonstrating how ECG can be used as a diagnostic tool in different medical scenarios.

The workshop also featured an interactive quiz to help young doctors reinforce their ECG knowledge. Participants expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to learn directly from experienced cardiologists.
