Transasia Bio-Medicals Ltd., in partnership with Bavya Health Services Private Limited, is supporting Andhra Pradesh’s Citizen’s Health Screening Project with the deployment of advanced Erba diagnostic systems across Mobile Medical Units (MMUs), bringing automated laboratory testing closer to rural communities and welfare hostel residents.

The first lot of 23 upgraded Mobile Medical Units was launched today at Araku in Alluri Sitaramaraju District by Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, as part of the state’s Sanjeevani pilot initiative.

The launch was attended by Veera Pandian, Principal Health Secretary, along with Dr. Pavankumar Donepudi, Managing Director, Bavya Health Services Private Limited, and Director, Naren Donepudi, among other officials and stakeholders.

Diagnostics built into mobile healthcare delivery

The initiative marks a significant step towards integrating diagnostic capabilities directly into mobile healthcare delivery.

The MMU fleet is equipped with 936 Erba XL 200 fully automated biochemistry analyzers and 936 Erba H360 hematology analyzers, enabling comprehensive laboratory testing to be carried out closer to the communities being served.

Under the Citizen’s Health Screening Project, 104 Mobile Medical Units have been upgraded to deliver an integrated package of healthcare services, including quality diagnostics, essential medicines and digital health records.

The diagnostic infrastructure enables 47 tests across 11 diagnostic categories, covering essential parameters such as liver and renal function, lipid profile, complete blood count (CBC), Diabetes profile and other routine health assessments.

Test results will be handed over the same day.

The initiative is supported by an annual government allocation of more than ₹162 crore, reflecting the scale of the state’s commitment towards strengthening accessible and preventive healthcare.

Taking quality diagnostics to rural communities

By integrating automated biochemistry and hematology analyzers into MMUs, the programme brings diagnostic services closer to rural populations and residents of welfare hostels, reducing the need to travel to conventional healthcare facilities for essential testing.

The model is particularly significant for communities where geographical distance can be a barrier to timely access to healthcare and diagnostics.

The programme envisages creating a unique health profile for citizens, with digital health records that can help healthcare providers access relevant medical history across healthcare facilities. Door-to-door health profiling is also being undertaken as part of the initiative, helping build comprehensive health records for communities.
The integration of diagnostics with digital health records has the potential to strengthen continuity of care, support earlier identification of health risks and provide healthcare providers with a more complete view of an individual’s health history.
