Stryker has launched Mako 4 SmartRobotics™ in India, bringing its fourth-generation robotic-arm assisted technology to the country’s joint replacement market. The platform combines patient-specific planning, robotic technology and haptic guidance across Mako Total Knee, Mako Partial Knee and Mako Total Hip with Advanced Primary and Revision applications.
Mako 4 integrates 3D CT-based planning with AccuStop™ haptic technology, enabling surgeons to plan and execute joint replacement procedures based on a patient’s individual anatomy. The system also provides real-time intraoperative guidance designed to support greater precision and control during surgery.
The fourth-generation platform is integrated with Stryker’s Q Guidance System, which has been developed on more than 20 years of guidance-technology experience. Its design includes a large display for intraoperative visibility, an FP8000 camera and a space-efficient operating-room footprint.
The India launch builds on the global Mako platform, which has supported more than 2.5 million procedures across 47 countries. Stryker also reports more than 800 contributions to the global scientific record and over 2,000 patents and patent applications associated with its SmartRobotics technology.
According to Aman Rishi, Vice President & General Manager, India, Stryker, the launch reflects the company’s focus on bringing advanced technologies to Indian surgeons and expanding access to robotic-assisted joint replacement.
Stryker said Mako 4 is designed to provide an integrated clinical and operational experience across total knee, partial knee and total hip replacement, further expanding the company’s robotic-assisted orthopaedic technology portfolio in India.
