Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) organised the ‘Fit India Freedom Run 2.0’ to commemorate the Central government’s initiative, ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to mark 75 years of Independence. This run promotes the Central Government’s mission to bring about behavioural changes and move towards a more physically active lifestyle.

FIT India Freedom run 2.0 was organised at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi and saw enthusiastic participation from ICMR employees and staff members. Prof. (Dr.) Balram Bhargava, Secretary Department of Health Research and Director General, ICMR flagged off the group of runners in presence of senior officials. The event was organised by observing all COVID-19 protocols.

 

 “Ministry of Sports and Youth has taken a great initiative to encourage a culture of fitness and a healthy lifestyle. One can immensely benefit from an active lifestyle by adopting this fitness mantra.” Said Prof. (Dr.) Balram Bhargava.

FIT India Mission has conceptualized FIT INDIA FREEDOM RUN 2.0 to commemorate the 75th Independence Day – “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”. The theme of the Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 is Jan Bagidari Se Jan Andolan and it has been designed to ensure the participation of citizens either in the form of an actual run at a particular place or through a virtual run anywhere at any time. The concept behind this run is that “It can be run anywhere, anytime!”

ICMR’s other institutes are also organising similar FIT INDIA FREEDOM RUNS,  from 13th August to 2nd October 2021 to encourage fitness and help us all to get freedom from obesity, laziness, stress, anxiety, diseases etc.
