As we celebrate International Women’s Day, it is vital to create awareness about Menstrual Hygiene amongadolescent girls. The menstrual cycle is a natural process but in rural areas, it is still considered taboo and adolescent girls are unaware of the scientific facts and the importance of reproductive health.
Oasis Fertility, Karimnagar; celebrated International Women’s Day in a Government High School in Kharkhanagadda to create awareness about the Menstrual cycle and hygiene practices. Dr Jigna Tamagond, Consultant – Fertility Specialist, Oasis Fertility, Karimnagar; participated in the event and gave a Health Talk on the importance of Menstrual Hygiene in the presence of Head Master Dr. B.V.N Swamy – Principal and B. Bapu Reddy – Vice Principal of Government High School. She also distributed Exam pads, pens, and chocolates to more than 200 students.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Jigna Tamagond, Consultant – Fertility Specialist, Oasis Fertility, Karimnagar stated, “I convey my heartfelt wishes to all women on the occasion of International Women’s Day. Adolescent girls and women in rural areas have many misconceptions and beliefs about the menstrual cycle. Poor menstrual hygiene can lead to reproductive tract infections. It is high time to break these misconceptions and use disposable sanitary pads to stay clean and healthy”.
