In a push to strengthen India’s digital health infrastructure, the Gurugram health department has rolled out a QR code-based initiative to streamline the registration process for Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) IDs. The move is part of a larger effort to promote digital health access and interoperability under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).
Through the initiative, citizens can scan QR codes displayed at hospitals, health centers, and public offices to instantly generate their ABHA IDs. The program aims to make digital health records more accessible, reduce paperwork, and ensure faster delivery of healthcare services.
According to officials, the QR codes have been deployed across government hospitals, urban primary health centers, and community outreach programs, allowing residents to self-register using smartphones.
“The QR-based system will help us reach a wider population efficiently and encourage people to integrate their medical data into the national digital health ecosystem,” said Dr. [Name], Chief Medical Officer, Gurugram. “This will not only simplify access to healthcare but also improve the quality of treatment through connected digital records.”
The initiative is part of Haryana’s commitment to achieving universal ABHA coverage and ensuring every citizen has a unique digital health identity that can be used for teleconsultations, e-prescriptions, and hospital visits.
The Gurugram health department is also collaborating with private healthcare providers and local bodies to extend the drive across residential societies, schools, and workplaces, making it easier for citizens to enroll without visiting government offices.
Officials added that over the next few months, the district aims to register over 10 lakh residents under the ABHA ID program, significantly contributing to Haryana’s target for complete digital health inclusion
