AMTZ Hosts World Health Day Celebrations with Hon’ble Shri Harsh Vardhan, Former Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare
VISAKHAPATNAM, April 7, 2026 - On the occasion of World Health Day, the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) honoured Hon’ble Shri Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Former Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.
VISAKHAPATNAM, April 7, 2026 – On the occasion of World Health Day, the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) honoured Hon’ble Shri Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Former Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. Celebrating the theme “Together for Health. Stand with Science.”, the programme highlighted the power of collaboration and innovation in advancing healthcare – a spirit reflected across AMTZ initiatives, including platforms like the MedTech Hackathon, which bring together startups, researchers, and industry experts to co-develop practical solutions for healthcare challenges.
The event was formally inaugurated by Hon’ble Shri Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Former Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, in the presence of Dr. Jitendra Sharma, MD & Founder CEO, AMTZ, who also felicitated the Minister.
The programme featured the inauguration of Zuvio Technologies Pvt. Ltd., focused on manufacturing critical care medical equipment such as Patient Monitor, AED, Syringe pump and Dialysis machine, followed by the foundation stone laying of Truevis Technologies Pvt. Ltd., which will produce linear actuators and advanced cancer care solutions.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Former Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare described AMTZ as India’s answer to a global challenge-demonstrating that medical technology can evolve from dependency to sovereign capability.
He added “With its world-class ecosystem, AMTZ is not merely producing devices but building strategic confidence and shaping the nation’s future”. Acknowledging Dr Sharma’s leadership, he added that “Such institutions are not created by files and notifications alone, but by those who dare to dream institutionally – an act he called one of the highest forms of patriotism”.
Addressing the gathering on the day of World Health Day, Dr. Jitendra Sharma, MD & Founder CEO, AMTZ said “At AMTZ, every World Health Day marks not just celebration, but the beginning of new commitments. From enabling 100% indigenous hospitals under the ‘Make in India Hospital’ initiative to advancing inclusive innovation through the Para Olympic Technology Centre, and strengthening startups through a dedicated MedTech venture ecosystem- AMTZ’s focus remains clear: to solve critical healthcare challenges with scalable, homegrown solutions. With a growing ecosystem of innovators, scientists, and industry leaders, AMTZ is steadily shaping India into a global hub for medical technology.”
Emphasizing further, Dr Sharma added, “Every year, AMTZ takes key decisions that shape the medical technology landscape in the country,’ and urged everyone to collectively rededicate themselves to promoting health and advancing medical technology for the greater good of society and the world”.
The academic ecosystem was strengthened with the release of Volume 5, Issue 1 of the International Journal of Health Technology and Innovation by KIHT, now indexed on leading global platforms.
On the final day of MedTech Hackathon 2026, the Hackathon Awards ceremony recognised innovative healthcare solutions from participating startups. From over 150 teams, the top three were selected based on key parameters including clinical relevance, innovation, feasibility, scalability, and public health impact.
The event also witnessed LOI exchanges, with 25 startups expressing intent to be incubated at AMTZ, further strengthening the pathway from ideas to implementation.
Celebrating innovation, inclusivity, and industrial growth, the World Health Day programme at AMTZ reflects a larger vision – one where India not only meets its healthcare needs but also emerges as a trusted global partner in shaping the future of medtech.
