Health authorities in Rajasthan have placed a Ugandan woman under medical observation after she was identified during routine airport screening at Jaipur International Airport with symptoms consistent with Ebola Virus Disease. Officials emphasized that the case remains suspected, and laboratory confirmation is awaited.

According to preliminary reports, the woman arrived in Jaipur from Sharjah on Friday morning and was flagged by airport health officials during standard screening procedures. Following the detection of symptoms, health authorities immediately activated precautionary protocols, including isolation measures and clinical evaluation, to minimize any potential public health risk.

Officials stated that samples have been collected and sent for laboratory testing, while contact tracing and surveillance measures are being undertaken as a precaution. The patient is currently under close medical supervision, and no confirmed diagnosis has been reported at this stage.

The development comes amid heightened global vigilance over Ebola outbreaks reported in parts of Africa. The World Health Organization (WHO) describes Ebola as a severe viral disease that can cause fever, fatigue, muscle pain, vomiting, diarrhoea, and, in some cases, internal and external bleeding. The virus has historically recorded case fatality rates ranging from 25% to 90%, depending on the outbreak and access to treatment.

Health experts have stressed that early detection, isolation, and contact tracing remain critical tools for preventing transmission. India’s airport surveillance and public health systems have been placed on alert following advisories issued by the Union Health Ministry regarding travellers arriving from affected regions.

Authorities have reassured the public that there is currently no confirmed Ebola case in Jaipur, and the measures being taken are precautionary in nature. Healthcare teams are monitoring the situation closely while ensuring that all established infection control protocols are followed.

Public health officials have urged citizens to avoid speculation and rely only on verified updates from government health agencies. They also emphasized that routine surveillance and rapid response mechanisms are functioning effectively to address any potential infectious disease threats.

The final diagnosis will depend on laboratory test results, which are expected to provide clarity on the patient’s condition in the coming days.
