Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has inaugurated the newly developed 650-bed teaching hospital campus at Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital (PRMMCH) in Baripada, marking a major milestone in the state’s efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and medical education.

Spread across nearly 50 acres, the centrally air-conditioned hospital features advanced medical infrastructure, modern diagnostic facilities, intensive care services, operation theatres, and multiple specialty departments. The facility is expected to significantly improve access to tertiary healthcare services for residents of Mayurbhanj and neighboring districts in northern Odisha.

The teaching hospital has been designed to support patient care, medical training, and clinical research while reducing the need for patients to travel to larger cities for specialized treatment. Healthcare experts believe the expansion will enhance healthcare accessibility and help address the growing demand for advanced medical services in the region.

Speaking at the inauguration, Chief Minister Majhi reiterated the state government’s commitment to strengthening public healthcare infrastructure and expanding quality healthcare services across Odisha. The project aligns with the government’s broader healthcare modernization initiatives focused on improving patient outcomes and expanding medical education capacity.

Teaching hospitals play a critical role in India’s healthcare ecosystem by providing specialized treatment while training future doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals. The new facility is expected to support both healthcare delivery and workforce development.
