Reinforcing the importance of preventive healthcare and oral health awareness at the grassroots level, the Illness to Wellness Foundation, in association with Mankind, organised a Free Health & Awareness Camp at Budha Baba Mandir, Village Khor, Pataudi, Gurugram. The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from local residents who availed free oral and dental examinations, oral cancer screening, blood pressure checks, diabetes screening, eye examinations and general health consultations.
The initiative was led by (Hony. Brig.) Dr. Anil Kohli, Padma Bhushan, Padma Shri and Dr. B. C. Roy Awardee, Former President, Dental Council of India, and Member, Advisory Council, Illness to Wellness Foundation, who highlighted the critical need to prioritise oral health as an essential pillar of overall well-being.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Kohli said, “Awareness is the first medicine, prevention is the best treatment, and a healthy community is our greatest achievement. Oral health is not separate from overall health. Many serious diseases can be prevented or detected early through regular oral examinations and timely screenings. Community awareness and preventive healthcare are key to building a healthier society.”
Despite oral diseases being among the most prevalent health concerns globally, oral health continues to receive inadequate attention in many communities. Experts at the camp highlighted that poor oral hygiene can have a significant impact on overall health and well-being, affecting nutrition, confidence and quality of life. They stressed that regular dental check-ups, timely screenings, awareness and healthy lifestyle choices are essential for maintaining good oral health and preventing long term complications.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Anil Rajput, Chairperson, Advisory Council, Illness to Wellness Foundation, said, “Preventive healthcare begins with awareness and timely action. Through community based initiatives such as this camp, we aim to bring essential health services closer to people and encourage them to prioritise regular health check-ups. Oral health is an important yet often overlooked aspect of overall well-being, and greater awareness can go a long way in preventing health complications and improving quality of life. At Illness to Wellness Foundation, we remain committed to empowering communities through awareness, early screening and preventive healthcare.”
The camp served as an important platform for promoting preventive healthcare and health awareness among community members. Healthcare experts interacted with residents and shared practical guidance on maintaining good oral health, adopting healthy lifestyle practices, and the importance of regular health screenings for the early detection and management of common health conditions. The initiative also encouraged individuals to take a proactive approach towards their overall health and well-being.
Residents from Village Khor and surrounding areas participated in the screenings and consultations, reflecting the growing awareness and interest in preventive healthcare. The initiative aligns with the Foundation’s mission of promoting wellness through awareness, early intervention and community engagement.
The Illness to Wellness Foundation continues to work towards making preventive healthcare accessible and encouraging individuals to take proactive steps towards healthier lives. Through such outreach programmes, the Foundation seeks to strengthen community awareness and contribute to the larger goal of building a healthier and more informed society.
