Mumbai, 25th June, 2026: HOSMAC, one of Asia’s leading hospital planning, designing and management consultancies, proudly marks 30 years of shaping the healthcare ecosystem in 25+ countries across 4 continents.
Dr. Vivek Desai, a medical graduate with hospital management degrees, founded HOSMAC in 1996 to help healthcare institutions build facilities that could serve communities better and create lasting impact. Over the past three decades, HOSMAC has worked alongside healthcare providers, governments, investors, academic institutions, charitable organizations, and healthcare entrepreneurs to plan, design, audit and operationalize hospitals and healthcare facilities. From helping establish new hospitals to supporting the expansion and modernization of existing institutions, the company has contributed to over 1000 projects till date.
Its work has touched some of the region’s most respected healthcare institutions, including Apollo Hospitals, Max Healthcare, Narayana Health, Fortis Healthcare, Tata Memorial Hospital, CMC Vellore, Medanta, and several leading international healthcare organizations. While every project has been unique, the common objective has remained the same: creating healthcare environments that improve outcomes for patients and caregivers alike.
In 2007, HOSMAC expanded its footprint internationally with the establishment of a wholly owned subsidiary in Dubai. Over the years, it has designed and managed more than 10 million sq. ft. of healthcare infrastructure across the GCC and Middle Eastern region, working with institutions such as the Ministry of Health & Prevention – UAE, Dubai Health Authority, Emirates Hospital, RAK Hospital, Aster Hospital, Sharjah Healthcare City, and Thumbay Medicity Dubai, among others.
Talking about this journey, Dr. Vivek Desai, Founder & Managing Director, HOSMAC said “The evolution of healthcare over the last 30 years has been profound. Hospitals today are no longer viewed solely as treatment centres; they have become technology-enabled ecosystems designed around patient comfort, operational efficiency, clinical excellence, and sustainability. As India enters its next phase of healthcare growth, the focus is increasingly shifting towards creating future-ready healthcare environments that are smarter, greener, and more accessible. We are excited to continue being a part of that journey.”
Over the years, HOSMAC has worked closely with healthcare organizations to help them navigate changing expectations and emerging trends. Recent projects such as the Gangwal School of Medical Science and Technology at IIT Kanpur reflect the growing emphasis on integrating advanced technology, education, research, and patient-centric design into healthcare infrastructure.
Sustainability has also emerged as a defining priority for the healthcare sector. Recognizing the environmental impact of healthcare facilities, HOSMAC has actively championed green hospital design and management practices. The firm works towards creating energy-efficient, naturally ventilated, and environmentally responsible healthcare environments, with projects such as Godrej Memorial Hospital and Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital in Dharampur demonstrating how healthcare infrastructure can balance operational excellence with environmental stewardship.
Beyond consulting, HOSMAC has also played a role in knowledge exchange within the healthcare community. Through initiatives such as the Healthcare Executive magazine, annual healthcare leadership summits, virtual masterclasses, architecture student competitions, and industry forums, the organization has sought to encourage dialogue and learning around the future of healthcare.
As India enters a new phase of healthcare growth driven by rising investments, digital transformation, expanding access, and increasing focus on quality care, the need for thoughtfully planned healthcare infrastructure has never been greater. Looking ahead, HOSMAC remains committed to supporting healthcare organizations in building facilities that are resilient, sustainable, and equipped to meet the evolving needs of future generations.
