Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J.P. Nadda has been discharged from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, following an angioplasty procedure, the institute said in an official statement.
“Nadda was discharged today after undergoing angioplasty. He had a comfortable stay in hospital and thanked all doctors, nurses and staff for the care provided,” AIIMS said.
The Union Health Minister had been admitted to AIIMS after experiencing uneasiness and was placed under medical observation. Following clinical evaluation, doctors performed coronary investigations and subsequently carried out an angioplasty procedure.
Angioplasty, also known as percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), is a minimally invasive procedure used to restore blood flow in narrowed or blocked coronary arteries. The procedure may involve the use of a balloon and, where clinically required, the placement of a stent to keep the artery open.
According to the AIIMS statement, Nadda remained under the supervision of the institute’s medical team during his hospital stay and was discharged after his condition was assessed as stable. The statement did not indicate any further complications.
Nadda thanked the doctors, nurses and other healthcare personnel at AIIMS for the medical care and support provided during his treatment.
His discharge comes after several days of hospitalisation and follows the successful completion of the cardiac procedure. AIIMS has not announced any additional details regarding his subsequent medical follow-up or schedule of public engagements.
The development has drawn attention to the importance of timely cardiac evaluation and intervention, particularly in cases involving coronary artery disease. Cardiovascular diseases remain a major public health concern in India, accounting for a significant share of deaths and disease burden nationwide.
Nadda, who serves as the Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, was discharged after receiving treatment and monitoring at AIIMS, one of India’s leading tertiary care and medical research institutions.
