Swiss hearing-care company Sonova has launched Phonak EON, its third-generation real-time AI hearing-aid platform, as the company seeks to strengthen its position in the competitive global hearing-care market and support its medium-term growth targets.

The new platform uses the HYPERSONIC chip and Phonak’s Spheric Speech Clarity 3.0 technology to separate speech from background noise in real time. Sonova says the system can provide up to a 10 dB signal-to-noise-ratio benefit in challenging listening conditions while reducing listening effort.

EON also features a 37% more efficient and compact chip, a 25% smaller and slimmer profile, and up to 38 hours of battery life. The platform includes AI-driven automatic adaptation to changing listening environments through AutoSense OS AI 8.0.

Sonova first introduced real-time AI for speech-from-noise separation in 2024, when its Phonak Audéo Sphere Infinio became the first hearing aid to use a dedicated real-time AI chip for this purpose.

The new EON portfolio is launching first in the United States, with expansion to Australia and major European markets planned for mid-September, followed by a broader global rollout. Pricing has not yet been disclosed.

The launch comes as Sonova targets 5%–8% sales growth and 7%–10% core EBIT growth for its 2026/27 financial year at constant exchange rates. The company reported 5.9% sales growth in local currencies in the previous financial year.

With EON, Sonova is expanding its AI-based hearing technology portfolio while targeting improved speech understanding, smaller device designs and longer battery performance for people with hearing loss.
