Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh: As the demand for rehabilitation services continues to grow, India faces a critical shortage of qualified Prosthetists and Orthotists. Despite the increasing need driven by trauma, diabetes, congenital disabilities, and neurological disorders, the South Indian region has had limited access to dedicated undergraduate programmes in Prosthetics and Orthotics, compelling aspiring students to pursue the discipline outside their home states.
Addressing this long-standing gap, Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) has launched the AMTZ Bachelor in Prosthetics & Orthotics (BPO) programme – Andhra Pradesh’s first – creating new opportunities for aspiring healthcare professionals while strengthening the region’s rehabilitation ecosystem and advancing inclusive healthcare.
What the AMTZ BPO Programme Covers
The programme has been designed to develop skilled Prosthetists and Orthotists who can assess patients, design and fabricate customised prosthetic and orthotic devices, and deliver comprehensive rehabilitation care. Over the course of 4.5 years, students will be equipped with the knowledge, clinical expertise, and practical skills to become rehabilitation professionals capable of transforming lives through quality prosthetic and orthotic care. Combining academic excellence with clinical exposure and hands-on training, the curriculum equips students with the expertise required to meet national and global standards in rehabilitation services.
