WHO chief Tedros Ghebreyesus has called for rapid increase in production of dexamethasone, after British clinical trials found the steroid had life-saving potential for critically-ill coronavirus patients. He stated that dexamethasone demand has already surged. However, Ghebreyesus said there is no evidence it works for patients with mild disease or as a preventative measure, and could cause harm.
