Getting a good night’s sleep is crucial for our overall physical, mental, and emotional health. On average, we spend about one-third of our lives sleeping or trying to sleep. Adequate sleep is essential for various bodily functions, such as memory retention, mood regulation, metabolism, appetite control, and immune system function. I am pleased to hear about the master class on sleep issues and the efforts to raise awareness on such an important subject” said Dr. Bollineni Bhaskar Rao, CMD of KIMS Hospitals. On Sunday, he attended a program as the Chief Patron at KIMS Hospitals in Secunderabad and gave a speech. The program was led by Dr. V.V. Ramanaprasad, a renowned pulmonologist and sleep specialist, and organized by the KIMS Hospital pulmonology wing.

Dr. Ramanaprasad said, “Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is a common yet underdiagnosed sleep disorder affecting 900 million people worldwide and 104 million people in India. Osa is characterized by repeated pauses in breathing during sleep leading to disturbed unpleasant sleep. OSA is characterized by repeated pauses in breathing during sleep leading to disturbed, and unpleasant sleep. OSA is grossly underdiagnosed, particularly in women and children. OSA can have a significant impact on daily life and long-term health. Sudden cardiac arrest, Paralytic stroke, Cardiac arrhythmia, and sleepy driving leading to Road traffic accidents are very common serious life risks associated with undiagnosed and untreated OSA. In recognition of the importance of sleep health, particularly to raise awareness about Obstructive Sleep Apnea, We, the Dept of Pulmonology, KIMS Hospitals Secunderabad are organizing an OSA masterclass to prioritize sleep health spread awareness about OSA and support those affected in their journey toward better sleep and overall well being. If anyone feels their mood is not well even after getting up from sleep, they should not feel that they couldn’t sleep well, but immediately consult a good doctor. Then only they can know how qualitative is their sleep cycle. Many people don’t know that this problem is treatable. Even some doctors are also not concentrating on this. That’s why we are conducting this special master class on OSA. This can bring positive change in many lives” said Dr. Ramanaprasad.

The Organizing Committee members are Dr. Latha Sarma, Dr. Manmadharao, Dr. Vishal, Dr. Mahesh, Dr. GV Laxmi, Dr. Chirali Shah, and Dr. Kranthi Kumar.
