Health is the foundation of a woman’s strength! Women are the pillars of their families and society. At every stage of life, girls and women have unique health needs. From childhood to adolescence, childbearing years, menopause, and beyond, women must prioritize their well-being.
With their busy schedules, women often neglect their health. Working women, especially those in the IT sector, have even less time for self-care. Recently, an increasing number of working women have been consulting doctors for various health concerns compared to homemakers.
Modern lifestyles and dietary habits also significantly impact health. Long hours of sitting, reliance on junk and fast food, and a lack of physical activity contribute to various health problems.
Some of the common health issues women face today include infertility, irregular menstruation, uterine disorders, fatigue, difficulty in standing or walking, and body aches.
Key Health Priorities for Women:
Regular Health Checkups – To monitor heart health, uterine health, and early detection of potential diseases.
Balanced Diet & Exercise – Essential for strength and mental stability.
Mental Well-being – Managing stress and ensuring adequate rest.
Healthy Lifestyle Choices – Staying hydrated, eating nutritious food, and maintaining hormonal balance.
Health Considerations at Different Life Stages:
Childhood:
Vaccination is crucial, including the Rubella vaccine, as Rubella infections during early pregnancy can cause severe birth defects. Childhood obesity can lead to health issues in adolescence, particularly PCOS, which can later contribute to chronic diseases. Encouraging physical activities like tennis, badminton, swimming, or outdoor play is essential. Schools should incorporate at least an hour of physical fitness into daily schedules.
Adolescence:
Health in adolescence depends on awareness, knowledge, and habits. Girls should be educated on menstrual hygiene and anemia prevention caused by excessive menstrual bleeding.
Youth & Reproductive Age:
Understanding reproductive and sexual health is vital. Today, the internet provides abundant information, but not all of it is accurate. Providing correct guidance on safe contraception, sexually transmitted infections, and unsafe abortions is crucial to preventing conditions like cancer and infertility.
With career priorities, many women are delaying marriage and childbirth until their late 30s or early 40s. However, natural fertility declines with age, causing emotional and physical stress. Options like egg or embryo freezing and fertility insurance can help women balance career aspirations while ensuring future motherhood without stress.
Menopause:
Estrogen levels decline as women approach their mid-40s, leading to emotional, mental, and physical health challenges. Adopting hormone replacement therapy, calcium and vitamin D supplements, regular physical activity, and a nutritious diet can help women remain active for another 20-25 years. These measures also prevent osteoporosis, cancer, diabetes, and heart diseases.
Your health, your strength, your future! Let this Women’s Day be a moment to prioritize your well-being and embrace a healthier, brighter future.
