Max Healthcare is preparing to enter Gujarat’s healthcare market with an 800-bed multi-specialty hospital, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said following his meeting with Abhay Soi, Chairman and Managing Director of Max Healthcare, in Delhi.

According to Patel, the proposed hospital will mark the healthcare major’s first entry into the state, with the company also eyeing further expansion in Gandhinagar and Surat.

“Discussed Max Healthcare’s plans to enter Gujarat’s healthcare sector starting with a modern 800-bed multi-specialty hospital, alongside future expansion across Gandhinagar and Surat,” Patel said in a post on X.

The Chief Minister added that Max Healthcare representatives appreciated Gujarat’s urban planning and favourable Floor Space Index (FSI) policies, which support the development of large-scale healthcare infrastructure in the state.

Details Yet to Be Finalised

While the proposed facility is expected to strengthen Gujarat’s tertiary and multi-specialty healthcare capacity, the announcement did not disclose specifics around the hospital’s location, investment size, or expected commissioning timeline.

Max Healthcare’s Broader Expansion Push

Max Healthcare currently operates 21 healthcare facilities with more than 6,100 beds across Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra and Odisha. The hospital chain has previously outlined plans to scale its network to 10,000 beds over the next three to four years — and the proposed Gujarat entry would mark a significant step in that direction, extending the company’s national footprint into a new state.

Strong Financial Performance Backs the Expansion

The Gujarat move comes at a time when Max Healthcare continues to post strong financial growth. For the quarter ended June 2026, the company reported a 16% year-on-year increase in gross revenue to ₹2,982 crore.

Its network profit after tax (PAT) rose 3% year-on-year to ₹357 crore, compared with ₹345 crore in the corresponding quarter of FY26.
