Visakhapatnam, 5 August 2026: The MedTech Quality and Communications Institute (MQCI), established under the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ), marked its first Foundation Day, completing a year focused on strengthening quality, standards, skills and professional capabilities across India’s MedTech and HealthTech ecosystem.

Delivering the welcome address, Dr. Jitendra Sharma, Managing Director & Founder CEO, AMTZ, highlighted that quality builds trust, while effective communication ensures that trust reaches society.

As medical technology becomes central to healthcare delivery, quality, safety, reliability and effective communication are critical to translating innovation into better healthcare outcomes. MQCI’s First-Year Milestones

In its first year, MQCI delivered specialised training programmes, provided ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 Quality Management System consultancy, completed the first Biomedical Equipment Maintenance Certification Scheme (BEMCS) assessment at CMC Vellore, and advanced initiatives to strengthen quality practices across healthcare technology.  Explore MQCI Training & Certification programmes

Expert Voices on MedTech Quality and Patient Trust

Highlighting the importance of quality from a patient and consumer perspective, Prof. Bejon Kumar Misra, Chairman, MQCI, said:

“For patients, quality is not simply a technical requirement; it is about safety, reliability and trust. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Jitendra Sharma, Managing Director & Founder CEO, AMTZ, said:

MQCI is taking this vision forward by building the skills and competencies needed to put these standards into practice, while creating new career opportunities for young professionals. Emphasising the importance of translating quality standards into healthcare practice, Dr. Sunil Kumar Khetarpal, Deputy Director General, Association of Healthcare Providers (India) (AHPI), said:

“The value of a medical technology is ultimately realised in the healthcare setting. Strong quality systems, trained professionals and adherence to standards are essential for healthcare providers to use these technologies with confidence. MQCI can play an important role in strengthening this connection between MedTech quality and healthcare delivery.”

Inside the MQCI Foundation Day Programme

The programme brought together experts from healthcare, academia, quality and medical technology. It featured a panel discussion on “Healthcare Textiles Processing Facility: Requirements, Benefits, and Best Practices”, along with expert-led sessions on strengthening quality and capabilities across healthcare.

The programme featured Dr. Sanjeev Relan, CEO, Shalex MediTech, as moderator, along with Dr. Ashoo Grover, Scientist-G & Head, Implementation Research Division, ICMR; Dr. Rangarajan, Director, Academy for Sterilization Technologies; Dr. P. HemaPrakash Kumari, Professor & HOD, Department of Microbiology, CSSD, Maharaja Institute of Medical Sciences; and Mr. Vishal, CSSD In-Charge, Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre (HBCHRC).
