‘New containment policy ready to control Covid spread post festive’

The state health department informed the High Court that in view of the ensuing festivals like Navaratri, Dussehra, Milad Un Nabi etc., a new containment policy has been prepared so that people won’t throw caution

The state health department informed the High Court that in view of the ensuing festivals like Navaratri, Dussehra, Milad Un Nabi etc., a new containment policy has been prepared so that people won’t throw caution to the wind during the festive season.

In the affidavit filed before the High Court, the director of the state public health department Dr GSr inivas Roa, said there are only 4,620 active cases in the state and the positivity rate is 0.5%, showing a decreasing trend.

He added that nearly 2.52 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered to people ever since the vaccination program commenced in the state on Jan 16, 2021.
In the affidavit, he informed the High Court that 1.83 crore people were administered the vaccine till now. Of this, 68 lakh people have received two doses, and 1.14 crore people have been given a single dose so far.

However, 94.68 lakh people have not received their vaccine shot till now, he mentioned in the affidavit.

Dr Rao also gave details of pediatricians available in state-run hospitals all over the state to face the third wave.
