Visakhapatnam, September 2, 2026: India’s medical device manufacturing ambitions took centre stage at the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ), Visakhapatnam, as Shri Manoj Joshi, Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India, engaged with leading MedTech manufacturers and industry leaders on strengthening India’s medical device manufacturing ecosystem. Shri Joshi was accompanied by Shri Aman Sharma, Joint Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals.

During his engagement at AMTZ, Shri Joshi, along with Dr. Jitendra Sharma, MD & Founder CEO, AMTZ, and heads of prominent manufacturing units, participated in a Round Table Meeting.

The discussions focused on strengthening domestic manufacturing, expanding testing and validation capabilities, improving access to critical raw materials and components, and building an integrated ecosystem to accelerate innovation and reduce import dependence.

Highlighting AMTZ’s distinctive integrated model, Shri Manoj Joshi said, “AMTZ represents a distinctive model of how a government-led industrial ecosystem can operate with the efficiency. I have not seen a model like this elsewhere. The commendable work being undertaken at AMTZ is strengthening India’s medical devices ecosystem, and its continued efforts will play an important role in advancing the country’s MedTech ambitions.”

Reflecting on the sector’s journey, Dr. Jitendra Sharma, MD & Founder CEO, AMTZ, said, “Years of dedication, perseverance and belief have shaped India’s medical devices sector. The journey has not always been easy, but the belief in what we are building keeps us moving forward. The engagement also marked an MoU between AMTZ and Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre (HBCHRC) for collaboration in radiopharmaceuticals, radiochemistry and oncology research, combining AMTZ’s Techtron infrastructure with HBCHRC’s oncology research and clinical expertise.

Shri Aman Sharma, Joint Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals, said, “AMTZ has been a real eye-opener for us, with the kind of integrated facilities that one would expect in a medical device park all available under one roof and being extensively utilised by the manufacturing units.”

The visit also marked the inauguration of Dentic World, further expanding specialised MedTech capabilities within the AMTZ ecosystem. Bringing research, design, prototyping and advanced manufacturing under one platform, Dentic World will accelerate the development and commercialisation of indigenous dental technologies, strengthening India’s capabilities in dental innovation and manufacturing.

The event concluded with Dr. Jitendra Sharma acknowledging the gathering and reaffirming that the true purpose of this journey is to ensure that no life in India has to wait for the technology it needs — and that every innovation built today brings the country one step closer to a healthier, stronger and more self-reliant India.
