Making waves as a first-generation, modern-day entrepreneur in
India and beyond — Priyanka Salot, co-founder of The Sleep
Company has revolutionised the comfort tech sector after a 60-
year-long hiatus. Within the short span of two to three years, The
Sleep Company, led by Priyanka and her husband, has till date
raised INR 13.4 CR in a pre-series A round, followed by a Series B
investment that totaled up to a whopping INR 177 CR. With her
groundbreaking work on the SmartGRID Technology, for which the
brand holds an exclusive patent, Priyanka has led her team to build
India’s most successful comfort technology startup.

An alumni of the prestigious IIM-Kolkata, Priyanka has over a decade of experience in the
consumer durable industry. After brief stints as an Analyst at JP Morgan and a Strategic
Consultant for several major healthcare companies at Frost & Sullivan, Priyanka joined the
American multinational consumer goods corporation Procter & Gamble (P&G) shortly after
graduation. During her eight years at P&G, Priyanka oversaw the company’s US$350 million
Fabric Care business and spearheaded several innovative initiatives, including the Mamy Poko
pants/pampers campaign for the Asian region, which sparked her interest in the consumer
durables sector.

In 2019, soon after giving birth, Priyanka and her husband, Harshil, finally took the plunge into
entrepreneurship with The Sleep Company. A company that has now become the pioneers
and advocates of sleep-technology in Asia, started off from Priyanka’s difficulty in falling
asleep at night as a new mum. Her research brought Priyanka the realisation that the Indian
mattress market lagged far behind its Western and Asian counterparts, which piqued her
interest in studying sleep science and sleep technology further.

With the SmartGRID Technology developed with an-DRDO scientist, she unveiled the legend
of the Indian mattress market, setting the stage for a game-changing breakthrough. The
company has since diversified into new areas of comfort technology, releasing products like
the Elev8 Smart Adjustable Bed, SmartGRID Chairs, and Smart Sleep Accessories.

Currently, Priyanka is focusing on executing the brand’s most talked-about omnichannel
strategy, which aims at launching 25+ state-of-the-art comfort boutiques this year, in addition
to the brand’s continued successful expansion in the Japanese and UAE markets. Her ambition
is to grow the brand into a market leader in the industry and revolutionise the way people
sleep and sit across the globe; and she aims to do that with a business strategy focused on
entering the rapidly growing comfort-tech industry in international markets and developing
innovative products that improve customer satisfaction.

Priyanka and her husband Harshil are now eyeing on making The Sleep Company a 500cr
brand by 2024 and become the world’s leading comfort-technology company. Their efforts
in this direction have been appreciated, which is also reflected in the awards and accolades
they have received. The Sleep Company recently won Retail Start-up of the year at the
Entrepreneur Awards 2022, they were awarded IMAGES Most Admired D2C Brand of the year
and the brand is also part of the Inc42’s FAST42 List as well as India’s Most Coveted List For
D2C Brands.

Additionally, Priyanka Salot herself has received numerous honours and awards from
prestigious media outlets, including the Fortune 40Under40 list for her outstanding
achievements, and the Wonder Women 100 list by IMAGES Group for being a formidable
