Eurasia’s largest event in orthopedics, traumatology, and health care economics, will be held at the Skolkovo Innovation Center, Moscow, on June 25-26, 2021.
It will be the first major offline event to take place after the quarantine restrictions have been lifted. The Forum will bring together 5,000 civilian and military medical specialists from the CIS, Asia-Pacific, South Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and America.

The Eurasian Orthopedic Forum is the only event of this scale with a focus on a multidisciplinary approach. The Forum covers all the aspects of orthopedic traumatology, including pharmacotherapy, radiology, anesthesiology, organizational and legal issues related to doctors’ protection.

In 2021, the EOF is linked to two landmark events, the 100th anniversary of the N.N. Priorov National Medical Trauma and Orthopedics Research Center (CITO) and the 100th anniversary of the doctor G.A. Ilizarov. The prominent surgeon G.A.

Ilizarov and the CITO, one of the world’s leading clinics, both contributed greatly to the formation of the scientific and practical school of traumatology and orthopedics in Eurasia. The EOF-2021 scientific agenda spans 11 areas. Nine Forum halls will host discussions on arthroscopy and shoulder endoprosthetics, degenerative diseases and endoprosthetics of large joints, hand and foot surgery, microsurgery for trauma surgeons and orthopedists, application of biotechnologies and 3D printing in traumatology and orthopedics, problems of bone pathology, and infections in trauma and orthopedic units. The list of activities includes a Russian-Japanese conference on spine surgery. Scientific sections provide for case studies based on cases from the best Russian and foreign medical institutions. Thanks to a wide representation of various national schools at the EOF, the participants will be able to learn the experience of their colleagues in Europe, the USA and South Korea, all of them sharing a single online platform.

The issues of medication-assisted treatment in traumatology and orthopedics will be discussed at the Pharmcongress to be held within the EOF framework. The Congress, first held in 2019, is a platform for exchanging expertise in clinical pharmacology and health economics. In 2021, the two-day Pharmcongress will culminate in a special session that is part of the event’s business agenda, where representatives of pharmaceutical companies and medical community leaders will discuss the regulation of circulation of medical devices in traumatology and the prospects for the production of new medications.

In addition, the East European Sarcoma Group (EESG) Forum has been integrated into the EOF-2021 program, along with the sections of three largest global professional communities: AO Trauma, the International Association of Trauma Surgeons; AO Spine, the International Association of Spine Surgeons; and ASAMI, the Association for the Study and Application of Methods of Ilizarov.

In addition to the scientific program, the EOF-2021 Business Forum will also take place. The agenda of the EOF Business Forum addresses the formation of the modern-day industry of evidence-based medical technologies, development of the medical industry, effective interaction between the medical community and vendors, issues related to availability of sufficient numbers of medical professionals in the industry, and the legal aspects of telemedicine in trauma treatment.  The Eurasian Orthopedic Forum will be accompanied by a large-scale exhibition, showcasing more than 200 Russian and foreign exhibitors on 15,000 m2 of exhibition space at Skolkovo Technopark.

The EOF is supported by the Ministry of Health of Russia, Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Russia, the Federation Council, State Duma, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, Federal Medical-Biological Agency of Russia, and Moscow Department of Health.

Among the EOF organizers are the Association of Traumatologists and Orthopedists of Russia, N.N. Priorov National Medical Trauma and Orthopedics Research Center, the Main Military Health Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Russia, N.N. Burdenko Main Military Clinical Hospital, Federal State Unitary Enterprise CITO, N.I. Pirogov Russian National Medical Research University, S.M. Kirov Military Medical Academy, Rosmedprom Association, and Polylog Consulting Group.

The Eurasian Orthopedic Forum (EOF) is the largest international platform in Eurasia dedicated to traumatology, orthopedics, medication-assisted treatment of trauma and orthopedic diseases, production of related medical products and healthcare economics. It is held in Moscow every two years. The forum has set up the EOF Online Club, which allows online discussions of the issues of traumatology and orthopedics on a regular basis.

More than 4,300 participants from 70 countries attended the EOF in 2019. Over 40 scientific and practical symposia were held during the last year’s forum. The experts participated in the discussion across 19 sections of the scientific program, including five major international congresses held as part of the Forum and a unique practical course on foot surgery.
