Ahoy Bikes as a part ‘Made in India’ initiative, launched the world’s first electroluminescent bikes for aspirational Indians. Completely manufactured in India, the bikes are designed especially focusing on the increasing road accidents among cyclists.

The revolutionary technology that uses electroluminescent paint-like coating system, emits light when an electric current is passed through it. “Safety and quality are the two main features that have been focused while manufacturing the bikes”, said Mr. Sandeep Sinha, Business Head, Ahoy Bikes.

The idea of the bike was culminated post lockdown when people started using bicycles more frequently and as a safer medium to travel with maintaining the norms of social distancing. Apart from the launch of their Electroluminescent Bike, they will also aim to focus on starting talks with the government and various associations to build bicycle tracks for the cyclists, which will further reduce the chance of accidents.

Bicycles are emerging as a part of a healthy lifestyle and now also as a statement of style. So the organization has also focused on making it more affordable for Indians. This product not just caters to the needs of adults but also benefits the children, as more and more children have started using bicycles post lockdown. It became their safer medium too to get out of the house and enjoy a different environment and even during the absence of proper light the luminescent lighting on the cycle helps to easily spot them.

According to the data provided by All India Cycles Manufacturers Association, the industry was growing at 5-7 per cent every year but due to the pandemic, it is now expected to grow at 15-20 per cent, led by a surge in first-time users.

As per data, India is the second-largest manufacturer of bicycles in the world and the company plans to market its new-age product across India with a wide dealership network.
