Asian Institute of Nephrology and Urology Successfully Hosts the Kidney Run to Promote Kidney Health Awareness

The Asian Institute of Nephrology and Urology (AINU) proudly announces the triumphant culmination of the AINU Kidney Run, held on Sunday, at the Gachibowli Stadium. Sri Komatireddy Venkat Reddy Minister for Roads and Buildings and Cinematography, Govt. of Telangana flagged off the run, which was participated by 1500 runners including kidney patients, healthcare professionals, and the general public. The event which was organized on the eve of World Kidney Day marks a significant stride towards raising awareness about chronic kidney disease (CKD) and fostering community engagement in combating this global health challenge.

With over 850 million individuals worldwide affected by CKD. In alignment with the theme of “Kidney Health for All – Advancing Equitable Access to Care and Optimal Medication Practice” for World Kidney Day 2024, AINU took proactive steps to highlight the critical importance of advancing therapeutic breakthroughs and promoting comprehensive strategies to combat CKD.

The AINU Kidney Run served as a powerful platform to address key challenges hindering equitable access to kidney care, including lack of awareness, limited knowledge of new therapeutic strategies, shortage of kidney specialists, and high treatment costs. By advocating for the integration of kidney health into existing health policies, promoting patient-centered approaches, and fostering community empowerment, AINU aims to contribute significantly to kidney health awareness and care.

Dr. Varun, Nephrologist at AINU, expressed his gratitude to all participants and supporters, stating, “The overwhelming response to the AINU Kidney Run underscores the growing recognition of the importance of kidney health in our society. By coming together in this collective endeavor, we are not only raising awareness but also catalyzing tangible actions to improve outcomes for individuals affected by CKD.”
