Today, HGC Foundation and Swasti Gallery, in collaboration with HCG Cancer Hospitals launched the “Art Against Cancer” exhibition, a unique initiative aimed at spreading awareness about bladder cancer as part of Bladder Cancer Awareness Month. The event was inaugurated by Dr Shekar Patil, Dr Ravi T, Dr Satheesh CT, and Dr Mohammed Naseer, with renowned oncologists and medical professionals in attendance. Supported by Merck Speciality Pvt Limited, this two-day exhibition is scheduled for May 24th and 25th, 2024.
Bladder cancer remains one of the most prevalent and challenging cancers globally, affecting millions of lives every year. In line with its commitment to cancer research, treatment, and awareness, HCG Cancer Hospitals has organized this unique event to shed light on bladder cancer and its impact on individuals and families.
The “Art Against Cancer” exhibition features a diverse collection of artworks created by talented artists from leading art schools across India, each sharing their interpretation of the theme and their support for the fight against bladder cancer. The exhibition promises to inspire, educate, and spark meaningful conversations about the disease.
Dr Shekar Patil of HCG Cancer Hospitals stated, “Art has the power to engage people through the expression of creativity and the strokes of colour. This unique ‘Art Against Cancer’ initiative will help raise awareness about bladder cancer, and we encourage everyone to join us in this important effort. Art has a unique ability to communicate complex emotions and messages, and we believe that this exhibition will serve as a powerful platform to educate the public about bladder cancer while showcasing the importance of creativity in healing and advocacy.
Bhagya Ajai Kumar, Director of Swasti Gallery, added, “This exhibition is one of our foundation’s initiatives to create cancer awareness. We are committed to using art as a medium to bring attention to critical health issues and foster a sense of community and support. We will continue to create awareness through such initiatives.”
During the program, Dr Shekar Patil, a renowned oncologist at HCG Cancer Hospitals, emphasized, “Bladder cancer has various symptoms, but key indicators such as changes in urine colour—including red, pink, orange, or brown—are common. Early detection plays a crucial role in successful treatment outcomes. With this exhibition, our hospital aims to emphasize the importance of recognizing these symptoms and seeking timely medical attention. By coming together as a community, we can make a significant impact in the fight against bladder cancer and improve outcomes for patients.”
HGC Foundation and Swasti Gallery, in collaboration with HCG Cancer Hospitals, remain dedicated to enhancing cancer treatment, research, and public awareness through innovative initiatives like “Art Against Cancer.” The hospital invites everyone to visit the exhibition and join in the efforts to combat bladder cancer.
