Poly Medicure, a global leader in medical devices, has announced a strategic partnership with the Zero Emission Maritime Buyers Alliance (ZEMBA) to help pioneer the use of e-fuels in ocean freight shipping. Through ZEMBA’s upcoming January 2025 tender, Poly Medicure will actively support the deployment of the first-ever zero-emission maritime fuel market, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and climate leadership.
The ZEMBA tender, which aims to aggregate over 80 billion tonne-nautical miles of demand for zero-emission shipping, is set to introduce e-fuel-powered container shipping at scale by 2027. This collaboration, including over 40 member companies, is expected to reduce approximately 470,000 metric tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions—equivalent to removing around 100,000 cars from the road for a year.
Commenting on this association, Mr Dhruv Baid, Senior Manager Corporate Strategy, Poly Medicure said, “Sustainability is a key strategic pillar for Poly Medicure. The company recognizes its inherent responsibility to not only minimize environmental impact but also contribute to the betterment of our natural ecology for current and future generations. While focusing on reducing Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, Poly Medicure is also addressing Scope 3 emissions through its membership in ZEMBA. This provides Poly Medicure a vital platform to tackle emissions from maritime shipping by driving significant demand and purchasing power for zero-emission fuels. Poly Medicure is proud to be a member of ZEMBA, in upholding and advancing the new environmental standards necessary to take us to the next step in our global sustainability journey.”
