MediBuddy, India’s leading digital healthcare platform, celebrates the exemplary efforts of Chandan Kumar, a CareBuddy specialising in Dental Care, who joined the organisation in October 2023. Chandan successfully assisted a 44-year-old woman facing severe dental health challenges, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to patient care.

The patient had been enduring unbearable tooth pain for several days, aggravated by complications from earlier dental procedures where her pulp and multiple teeth (6–7) had been removed. Unable to eat solid food and surviving on a liquid diet, her physical health was deteriorating, and her mental well-being was deeply affected. She sought a complex treatment involving dental crowns and implants, but financial constraints and insurance coverage issues delayed her care.

Upon receiving her distress call, Chandan Kumar promptly assessed the urgency of her situation. Although she planned to use her corporate insurance benefits, a glitch in the database showed only 30-40% coverage instead of the 90% she was entitled to. Recognising that time was critical, Chandan initiated a multi-team collaboration involving MediBuddy’s Account Management, IT, and insurance teams to identify and resolve the issue.

Chandan worked tirelessly to secure approvals for an exceptional reimbursement case to ensure the patient could proceed with her treatment without financial barriers. He also coordinated between the hospital, the Third-Party Administrator (TPA), and the patient’s family doctor to finalise the treatment plan and funding. Throughout the process, Chandan provided constant updates and emotional support to the patient, ensuring she felt reassured despite the challenging circumstances.

As a result of these efforts, the patient received the necessary treatment, including the placement of dental crowns. Her health improved significantly, allowing her to resume eating solid food. The collaborative efforts of the MediBuddy team—spanning CareBuddies, Clinical Coordinators, and the Insurance Team—played a vital role in resolving the case successfully.
