Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology, Minister of State (Independent Charge) Earth Sciences, MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh today launched the book “Weight Loss Revolution”, at a ceremony held in the capital.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Jitendra Singh emphasized the urgent need to combat the global health challenge of obesity and related metabolic disorders with scientifically authenticated, evidence-based information. He underlined that weight management and lifestyle interventions should not be left at the mercy of unverified claims and anecdotal practices circulating on social media.

Highlighting India’s growing burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart ailments, Dr. Singh stated, “Obesity is not just a cosmetic concern—it is a medical and societal issue with wide-ranging implications. A responsible dissemination of authentic, scientific knowledge is essential to ensure that both prevention and management strategies reach the common man.”

The book “Weight Loss Revolution” seeks to bridge the gap between complex medical research and everyday public health practices. It provides practical insights on nutrition, lifestyle modification, and sustainable approaches to weight management, while debunking myths and misconceptions around fad diets and quick-fix solutions.

The Minister lauded the author’s effort in bringing science closer to society through a reader-friendly format, noting that this aligns with the Government’s broader vision of promoting preventive health and wellness under the Fit India Movement and related initiatives. He also called upon healthcare professionals, academicians, and policy makers to further engage in translating research findings into community-level awareness campaigns.

The event was attended by senior officials, medical experts, fitness professionals, and researchers who echoed the importance of empowering citizens with accurate health knowledge to address the rising prevalence of lifestyle-related diseases.
