In a significant step toward enhancing advanced healthcare services, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Nagpur, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bal Ayush Foundation to strengthen and expand Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) facilities in the region.
The collaboration aims to make lifesaving bone marrow transplants more accessible and affordable, particularly for children and adults suffering from blood cancers, thalassemia, aplastic anemia, and other hematological disorders. The partnership will focus on infrastructure development, capacity building, research collaboration, and patient care support.
Speaking on the occasion, Executive Director of AIIMS Nagpur, said, “This MoU marks a major milestone in our mission to provide comprehensive tertiary care to patients in Central India. Together with Bal Ayush Foundation, we aim to create a robust ecosystem for bone marrow transplantation that meets global standards.”
Representatives from the Bal Ayush Foundation emphasized that the collaboration aligns with their commitment to supporting advanced pediatric and adult care through medical aid, awareness programs, and research initiatives.
The agreement will also facilitate training programs for healthcare professionals, joint clinical research, and patient awareness drives on the importance of early diagnosis and treatment of hematological conditions.
AIIMS Nagpur, one of the emerging centers of excellence under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has been steadily expanding its specialized care units, and this partnership is expected to further strengthen its role as a regional referral center for complex medical procedures.
Officials noted that the initiative is part of a broader effort to reduce patient referrals to metro cities and ensure that high-end treatments are available locally to patients in Maharashtra and neighboring states.
