Shimla, : In a significant push to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and technology adoption in the state, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has announced a ₹3,000 crore investment towards healthtech upgrades, alongside inaugurating a state-of-the-art Nuclear Medicine Block at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla.

The announcement marks a major step towards enhancing advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities across Himachal Pradesh. The newly inaugurated Nuclear Medicine Block at IGMC is equipped with modern imaging and diagnostic technologies, enabling early detection and improved management of complex diseases, including cancer and other chronic conditions.

Speaking at the inauguration, the Chief Minister emphasized the state government’s commitment to building a future-ready, technology-driven healthcare ecosystem. The ₹3,000 crore healthtech upgrade initiative is aimed at modernizing healthcare facilities, integrating digital health solutions, and improving access to quality care, particularly in remote and hilly regions of the state.

The investment is expected to support the deployment of advanced medical equipment, digital health platforms, telemedicine services, and capacity building for healthcare professionals, ensuring more efficient and patient-centric service delivery.

Officials noted that the new Nuclear Medicine Block will significantly strengthen IGMC’s role as a tertiary care and referral center, reducing the need for patients to travel outside the state for specialized diagnostic services. The facility is also expected to improve clinical outcomes through early diagnosis, precision imaging, and timely intervention.

The initiative aligns with the state’s broader vision of enhancing healthcare accessibility, affordability, and quality, while leveraging technology to bridge gaps in service delivery. It is also anticipated to contribute to improved health indicators and overall system efficiency in Himachal Pradesh.

With this dual announcement of infrastructure expansion and healthtech investment, Himachal Pradesh reinforces its commitment to advancing healthcare innovation and strengthening public health systems for its population.
