The Supreme Court of India has issued notices to the Centre and the National Testing Agency (NTA) over petitions related to alleged paper leaks in NEET-UG 2026 and demands for major reforms in the examination system.

During the hearing, the bench led by Justice P. S. Narasimha remarked that the NTA appeared not to have “learnt its lesson” despite reforms suggested after the NEET-UG 2024 controversy.

The Court directed the NTA to submit details on the implementation status of earlier reforms and monitoring mechanisms. It also asked K. Radhakrishnan, chairman of the monitoring committee formed after last year’s controversy, to file an affidavit on compliance.

One of the petitions, filed by the United Doctors Front (UDF), has sought dissolution of the NTA and demanded a fresh examination under independent supervision.

NEET-UG is India’s largest medical entrance examination, with over 24 lakh students appearing annually for admission to MBBS and other medical courses. The matter will now be heard later this week as concerns over exam transparency and paper leak allegations continue to intensify across the country.
