Patients in Mysuru and neighbouring districts no longer need to travel to Bengaluru for advanced laser vision correction and precision cataract surgery. Nethradhama Super Speciality Eye Hospital today officially launched CLEAR Supra, the latest Swiss engineered lenticule extraction technology for vision correction, along with laser assisted cataract surgery, at its Mysuru centre. Following the successful adoption of the earlier generation of the CLEAR platform, with more than 60 vision correction procedures and over 90 laser-assisted cataract surgeries already performed, the hospital has upgraded to the latest CLEAR Supra technology. The launch makes Nethradhama the first eye hospital in Mysuru to offer both CLEAR Supra and laser assisted cataract surgery.

The expansion addresses a long-standing gap in access to advanced ophthalmic care in southern Karnataka. Nearly 20% of patients visiting Nethradhama’s Bengaluru centre travel from Tier-2 and Tier-3 regions, including Mysuru and Kodagu, for specialised procedures such as refractive surgery, laser assisted cataract surgery, retina care and oculoplasty. On average, 50 to 80 patients from these regions visit the Bengaluru centre every day for advanced eye care that was previously unavailable closer to home.

By bringing technologies such as CLEAR Supra and laser-assisted cataract surgery to Mysuru, we are making high-precision eye care more accessible while reducing the need for patients to travel long distances. Our focus has always been to ensure that patients receive the highest standards of safety, precision and clinical outcomes, regardless of where they live. Since introducing advanced technologies couple of years back, referrals to Bengaluru for procedures have reduced to just 4-5 patients per month.”

CLEAR Supra represents the latest advancement in lenticule extraction technology for vision correction. The flapless, bladeless and minimally invasive procedure uses an upgraded laser platform with enhanced optical zone optimisation and ultra low energy laser pulses, enabling smoother tissue separation, improved precision and better visual quality, particularly in low light conditions. Laser-assisted cataract surgery similarly improves precision during key stages of cataract surgery, supporting greater accuracy and more predictable visual outcomes.
