Rajasthan Expands Mission Madhuhari with AI, Digital Tracking to Strengthen Diabetes Care

The Rajasthan Government has expanded Mission Madhuhari, its flagship diabetes prevention and management programme, by integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) and advanced digital health technologies to improve early detection, continuous patient monitoring and long term disease management. The initiative is part of the state’s broader digital healthcare strategy and aims to strengthen screening, follow-up and treatment outcomes for people living with diabetes across Rajasthan. By leveraging AI-powered analytics and real time digital tracking, the programme seeks to reduce diabetes-related complications while improving access to quality care, particularly in rural and underserved areas.

 

Under the expanded programme, Mission Madhuhari will deploy AI-enabled risk assessment tools, digital patient tracking, electronic health records and real-time dashboards to monitor diabetes patients throughout their treatment journey. Healthcare workers will be able to digitally record patient information, schedule follow up visits and track treatment adherence, enabling timely clinical interventions. The initiative also supports predictive analytics for identifying high risk individuals and improving disease surveillance, allowing healthcare providers to deliver more personalised and proactive diabetes care.

 

The programme will be integrated with Rajasthan’s rapidly expanding Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) ecosystem, including ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account), interoperable health records and the state’s Integrated Health Management System (IHMS). According to the Rajasthan Health Department, the state has generated more than 7.19 crore ABHA accounts, ranking second in India, while registering over 1.03 lakh healthcare professionals and 52,600+ health facilities under the national digital health platform. These digital capabilities will strengthen continuity of care and enable seamless exchange of patient information across healthcare facilities.

 

The initiative also builds on Rajasthan’s growing adoption of AI in public healthcare. The state has already piloted MadhuNetrAI, an AI based diabetic retinopathy screening programme, which has screened more than 1,000 diabetic patients during its initial phase. Additionally, Rajasthan has onboarded 7,680 Community Health Officers (CHOs) onto digital platforms and recorded over 1.62 lakh OPD consultations through integrated digital health systems, reflecting the state’s increasing reliance on AI and digital technologies to strengthen non-communicable disease management.

 

According to the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), India is home to over 101 million adults living with diabetes, making it one of the countries with the highest diabetes burden globally. Public health experts believe Rajasthan’s AI-enabled expansion of Mission Madhuhari represents a significant step towards data-driven chronic disease management. By combining artificial intelligence, digital tracking and interoperable health records, the initiative is expected to improve early diagnosis, enhance treatment adherence and strengthen diabetes care delivery, positioning Rajasthan as a leader in digital public health innovation.
