In a major push to strengthen last-mile healthcare delivery, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has approved an allocation of ₹162 crore for the deployment and operationalization of over 900 Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) under the state’s Sanjeevani healthcare initiative. The program has already witnessed significant traction, recording over 3.1 lakh registrations, reflecting growing public engagement and demand for accessible healthcare services.
The Sanjeevani initiative is designed to deliver primary healthcare services directly to communities, particularly in rural and underserved areas, reducing the need for long-distance travel for basic medical care. The mobile units are equipped with essential diagnostic tools, medicines, and trained healthcare personnel, enabling on-the spot consultations, screening, and treatment.
Officials highlighted that the fresh funding will accelerate the deployment, operational readiness, and service expansion of the mobile units across the state. The initiative is expected to significantly improve early diagnosis, preventive care, and disease management, especially in remote regions with limited healthcare infrastructure.
The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of efficient execution, real-time monitoring, and service quality, directing departments to ensure seamless operations and optimal utilization of resources. The integration of digital tools is also being prioritized to enable data driven tracking, reporting, and patient management.
With over 3.1 lakh registrations already recorded, the Sanjeevani program is emerging as a key pillar in Andhra Pradesh’s strategy to build a robust, inclusive, and technology enabled healthcare system. The initiative is expected to play a crucial role in improving healthcare accessibility, reducing disparities, and enhancing overall health outcomes across the state.
