In a significant move aimed at strengthening skill development and employment generation in the traditional healthcare sector, the Delhi government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to boost Ayush-based healthcare training, workforce development, and career opportunities.

The MoU was signed between the Healthcare Sector Skill Council (HSSC), functioning under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and Chaudhary Brahm Prakash Ayurved Charak Sansthan (CBPACS) in the presence of Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh.

Officials stated that the collaboration aims to strengthen industry-oriented skill training in Ayush healthcare systems, including Ayurveda, Panchakarma therapy, wellness services, and traditional healthcare support roles. The initiative is expected to create better employment pathways for students, healthcare workers, and professionals within India’s rapidly growing Ayush and wellness sector.

According to government estimates, India’s Ayush industry has witnessed substantial growth in recent years, with the sector now valued at over USD 24 billion, driven by increasing global demand for traditional medicine, preventive healthcare, wellness therapies, and holistic treatment systems.

The partnership will focus on developing specialized training modules, certification programmes, industry relevant skill courses, and healthcare workforce capacity aligned with modern healthcare and wellness requirements. Experts believe the initiative could significantly improve employability and professional training standards in the Ayush ecosystem.

India currently has more than 8 lakh registered Ayush practitioners and over 900 Ayush educational institutions, highlighting the growing role of traditional medicine in the country’s healthcare framework.

Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh emphasized the importance of integrating skill development with healthcare education to create future ready healthcare professionals capable of supporting both preventive and wellness-based healthcare systems.

The latest collaboration reflects the government’s broader focus on strengthening India’s traditional healthcare ecosystem, expanding healthcare employment opportunities, and promoting skill driven growth in the Ayush and wellness sectors.
