Gleneagles Hospital in Parel, Mumbai unveiled a cutting-edge Bi-Plane Cath Lab that incorporates artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance care for people struggling with cardiac problems. The biplane Cath lab provides faster diagnosis, lowers radiation exposure chances, and enhances treatment results with successful patient outcomes.  The facility was inaugurated by renowned Actor, Director, and Producer Shreyas Talpade. Present on the occasion were the team of Dr. Nitin Dange, Dr. Sameer V Pagad, Dr Praveen Kulkarni, Dr. Vivek Talaulikar along Actor Shreyas Talpade.

There has been a noticeable rise in cardiac problems among the population which can be attributed to factors such as high stress levels, sedentary lifestyles, poor dietary choices, and lack of awareness about heart health. It is concerning to witness the rising number of youngsters being diagnosed with cardiac issues. Gleneagles Hospital has taken a step further by launching an advanced Bi-Plane Cath Lab for timely intervention and saving the lives of the majority of patients suffering from complex cardiac issues.

Bi-plane Cath labs feature two C-arms for imaging, instead of one C-arm setup in routine or single-plane Cath labs. In two C-arms imaging, two detectors can capture data simultaneously from perpendicular angles of the two different planes at one time, giving a 3-dimensional image & resulting in reduced radiation exposure and shorter patient hospital stays as highlighted by Dr Sameer Pagad & Dr Praveen Kulkarni team of Interventional Cardiologists, Gleneagles Hospitals, Parel, Mumbai.

Dr Nitin Dange – Director of Interventional Neurology, Stroke Care & Neurosurgery said, “The Biplane CathLab is equipped with two C-Arms to obtain multiple images in one swift move. This avoids the need for multiple injections of contrast dye and repeated exposure to radiation for a given procedure. It is a high-specification advanced Neurointerventional tool for reducing complications and helps in better treating complex neurovascular and spinal vascular diseases like intracranial aneurysm treatment, AVM, ICAD, and acute strokes. spinal AVMS and AVFS also can be easily treated with better outcomes and minimal complications

“The unveiling of the world-class advanced bi-plane Cath lab marks a significant milestone in cardiac care. With state-of-the-art technology and cutting-edge equipment, patients can now benefit from precise diagnostics and minimally invasive procedures. This new addition reinforces the Hospital’s commitment to providing top-notch healthcare services by staying at the forefront of medical innovation,” said Dr Vivek Talaulikar, COO, of IHH Healthcare India

“Currently, cardiac problems are not only rising rapidly among senior citizens or adults but even youngsters. Prompt diagnosis and treatment are key to saving lives. Everyone must know the status of their heart by opting for cardiac screening regularly as suggested by the doctor,” concluded Shreyas Talpade, renowned Actor, Director, and Producer.
