Global Hospital Conducts Zumba and Clay Modelling Session to Help Nurses De-Stress And Unwind

Nurses play a vital role when it comes to the health and well-being of patients. To recognize the valuable contribution of the nurses who are the backbone of the healthcare system, Global Hospitals, Parel, Mumbai came up with an interesting and unique idea to help the nurses ease their stress.

To commemorate International Nurses Day, like every year, Global Hospitals, Parel, Mumbai organized a Zumba and clay modelling session as a mark of gratitude for the selfless service and care provided by the nurses. Above 100 nurses participated in this event and were able to relax and rejuvenate.  Zumba instructor Sayli Panchal and Clay artist Shramika Sable conducted interesting sessions for the nurses.

“Nurses are the backbone of our hospital. They are responsible for providing routine patient care that is administering medications, monitoring vital signs, wound care, documentation, infection control, and emotional support to patients and their families, thus ensuring patient comfort. A nurse is directly involved in the decision-making when it comes to patient care and management. They guide and educate patients and their families about post-treatment care. They support the emotional healing of the patients, making them smile again. But, due to erratic work schedules, the nurses fail to pay attention to their own physical, emotional, and psychological well-being. They make relentless efforts to ensure patient care and deserve to be respected and honored. Our nurses make us proud. To applaud them, we conducted a Zumba and clay modelling session” said Jessica D’souza, Chief Nursing Officer, Global Hospitals, Parel, Mumbai.

“The idea behind conducting this event was to ensure that we provide our nurses with a way to de-stress. Zumba has a plethora of health benefits. It’s fun and a full-body workout, great for heart health, tones the body, improves coordination, builds endurance, and uplifts the mood. Apart from that, clay modelling allows one to calm down, and be patient while focusing on the piece of work they are working on. These activities help uplift the spirit of our nurses. We intend to organize many more such activities to cheer up the nurses in the future, said Dr Vivek Talaulikar, Group COO, IHH Healthcare India & CEO, Gleneagles Global Hospitals,  Mumbai.

Our hospital has always made us feel special by conducting various informative and fun-filled events.  Our seniors ensured that we were able to take out time to come together and enjoy ourselves. We all nurses are elated and thank the hospital for caring for us. Stress is part and parcel of life. Sometimes, we are unable to manage stress owing to personal and professional responsibilities. We were fortunate that we were able to learn new skills and let go of stress,” concluded Rashmi Sawant, Deputy Chief Nursing Officer, Global Hospitals, Parel, Mumbai.
